Today, we face a lot of challenges that are complex. Every once in a while in this course, we will ask you to take a step back and consider what kind of challenges come to mind that are complex and need a transdisciplinary approach.

We invite you to think about at least one of the following questions:

• What are complex challenges that come to mind?
• Are you yourself involved in addressing complex societal challenges?
• Are there cases in which you think transdisciplinarity is particularly needed?
• Why are you interested in this course?

Those of you who like to approach these questions visually could take a photograph or make a drawing of the complex societal challenge that comes to mind. You can then upload it on td-net’s virtual whiteboard to share it with the other learners. Please note that you should only upload pictures where you are sure about the copyright and that do not infringe on the rights of other people.

We recommend writing down the answers for yourself and discussing them with others, if possible.
