A warm welcome to our course. We are excited to get started.

In these 6 chapters, we’ll explore the topic of One Health together. The course content is conveyed in either readings, presentations or videos. There are opportunities to test knowledge along the way to be sure it’s all sinking in. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to explain what One Health is and how it is carried out in real world examples. You’ll also learn about interdisciplinary ideas to solve every day One Health problems.

In the first chapter, we’ll explore the different relationships between humans and animals. We’ll investigate how culture and religion influence the human-animal relationship. You’ll become acquainted with the way how human and veterinary medicine relate to each other and how health systems are organised in different countries. Finally, you’ll get to know the concept of One Health and the history behind it. You’ll explore the benefits that are gained when human and animal health professionals work together in a systematic way and check your understanding of the One Health concept.

During this course you might meet some terminology with which you are not familiar. Please refer to the attached glossary, whenever you come across a new term.
