In the first four chapters of this online course, you learnt how to easily create a video abstract. The fifth chapter now groups together exercises and information to help you deepen your knowledge.

The individual steps in chapter five are rather loosely connected and do not build on each other as much as they refer to topics from the previous chapters. Step 5.2 suggests a grid that you can use to research and evaluate existing video abstracts. Step 5.3 suggests an exercise that you can use to structure your own video abstract. 5.4 addresses important pitfalls that lurk when you want to communicate your own field of knowledge to others: Learn more, for instance, about “The curse of knowledge”. Step 5.5 introduces you to the important distinction between diegetic and mimetic images.

The following sections (5.6 - 5.10) go into more depth with exercises and information on what makes working with moving images exciting but also difficult.
