Results-Based Financing is a new tool for improving health system performance. Its aim is to build financial incentives into health system contracts.

In sub-Saharan Africa, governments have been using Results-Based Financing (RBF) to improve their healthcare systems. Guenther Fink compares Results-Based Financing programmes in Rwanda and The Democratic Republic of the Congo. He discusses the programmes’ feasibility as well as their pros and cons.
