THE INSECTICIDE-RESISTANT MOSQUITO

Insecticide susceptibility monitoring

In this video, Prisca Kweyamba will introduce you to Tanzania’s insecticide-based interventions to control malaria. Explore how the National Malaria Control Programme carries out regular mosquito surveillance.

The Ifakara Health Institute in Bagamoyo, Tanzania, plays an essential role when it comes to keeping track of the possible threat of insecticide resistance. In this video, you will discover how the institute’s team hunts for traces of possible insecticide resistance every year. You will see which tests in the field and in the laboratory are used to detect malaria resistance at an early stage. The corresponding programmes are designed to make Tanzania malaria-free by 2030.
